Rising To The Challenge

OUR MISSION IS TO IMPROVE HEALTH EQUITY AND WELL-BEING IN GUATEMALA.

BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME

We are building a medical misison healthcare facility in the Baja Verapaz region of Guatemala that will provide health access to historically marginalized and underserved communities.

THIS FACILITY WILL BE:

√    A reliable community resource delivering competent continuity of care.

√    Accessible to all residents regardless of financial means.

√    Well-suited to host medical mission teams of various specialties (clinical, surgical, dental, and more).

OUR VISION FOR A BETTER FUTURE

By improving access to healthcare for local communities, we will break the cycle of poor health so that mothers have healthy babies, children grow strong and adults are able to provide for their families.

OUR LOCATION

The Onda Health site is located in the municipality of Purulhá, in the cloud-forest region of Baja Verapaz, Guatemala known for coffee and cardamom and home to the breathtaking national bird, the Quetzal.

Why Purulhá?

We were first introduced to Purulhá by a Guatemalan community development organization, Yo’o Guatemala, in 2019.  We immediately recognized the significant, positive impact Yo’o programs have had on the community and partnered with them to introduce medical mission services in 2021.

Our team has since turned the page and now collaborates with Yo’o Guatemala founder, Brenda Lemus, to fulfill the promise of a permanent healthcare facility that will enable us to expand mission service beyond just health consults but also surgical interventions; a facility that provides the community with the type of care they need and deserve.

PURULHA IS THE FASTEST-GROWING MUNICIPALITY IN THE REGION;

HOWEVER, RESIDENTS STILL LACK ACCESS TO BASIC SERVICES.
